tsweezy Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 With the end of the second recruiting cycle at hand, I wanted to take some time and see which teams have been loading up on talent at each position. Where are the future stars going to come from, and where have people been focusing their efforts? This will be an X-part series depending on how many positions I want to do. Next up: OG A quick note on methodology here. I have a very un-official system of scoring each recruit according to their projected junior year overall. So it takes stars, overall, and potential into account. I ranked all croots at each position and considered the top X players at each position that each school signed to get a holistic picture of which room is the best. So signing only 1 QB in 2 years can still be a top room if he's the #1 QB whereas if you only sign 1 WR in 2 years even if he's a 5 star A overall that won't be the best overall grouping. Lastly, the "#X overall" rankings are position-specific, so #5 overall means the 5th best (probably tied) RB recruit in the Combined 2021 and 2022 classes Again, a lot of these are just fun rankings, many other teams are in the convo and it depends a lot on whether you value having a great #1 option or more depth Without further ado: the offensive guards Honorable mentions: Miami Laurent Gimenez - 4 star, B overall, C potential, #23 overallAnthony Allen - 4 star, C overall, B- potential, #40 overallTim Devers - 4 star, C overall, C potential, #59 overall Florida State Dylan Jackson - 4 star, B overall, B potential, Run Blocking, #5 overallSteven Webb - 3 star, C overall, A potential, Run Blocking, #48 overallEnes Holdzkom - 3 star, C overall, A potential, Balanced, #48 overallSteven Lott - 3 star, C overall, A- potential, Balanced, #68 overall 5th Place :tennessee: Tennessee Similar to OT, Tennessee didn't sign a ton of players, but the ones they did sign are quite good. This should be a very formidable protective shield around Brandon Savage in the future years Nicholas Crosby - 4 star, B overall, C+ potential, Pass Blocking, #12 overallJames Hilton - 4 star, B overall, C potential, Pass Blocking, #23 overallSteven Henry - 4 star, C overall, C potential, Pass Blocking, #59 overall 4th Place :texastech: Texas Tech Texas Tech went 5 deep, but it's really all about their 2 B overall 4 stars and then a couple of depth guys Jorge Castillo - 4 star, B overall, B- potential, Run Blocking, #9 overallGrayson Williams - 4 star, B overall, C potential, Balanced, #23 overallDavid Lenahan - 3 star, C overall, C+ potential, Run Blocking, #111 overallSam Frare - 3 star, C overall, C+ potential, Balanced, #111 overallNick Lancaster - 3 star, C overall, C+ potential, Pass Blocking, #111 overall 3rd Place Baylor Baylor walked off with the only 5-star OG in either class, and paired him with an A+ potential futuer star and solid 4 star to make for a great class John Raymond - 5 star, B overall, D+ potential, Pass Blocking, #1 overallChanning Jones - 3 star, C overall, A+ potential, Pass Blocking, #38 overallJoey Harper - 4 star, C overall, C+ potential, Run Blocking, #45 overallJohn Sturdevant - 3 star, C overall, C potential, Run Blocking, #152 overall 2nd Place Bowling Green Bowling Green managed to take 3 B overall 4-stars these cycles, and has an argument for #1 here as the interior will be incredibly stout these next few years as Bam Lamp already got starting minutes this season. David Flores - 4 star, B overall, C+ potential, Pass Blocking, #12 overallFrank Berman - 4 star, B overall, C potential, Run Blocking, #23 overallBam Lamp - 4 star, B overall, D+ potential, Pass Blocking, #34 overallStefan Gordon - 3 star, C overall, B potential, Run Blocking, #82 overallAndrew Nieve - 3 star, C overall, C+ potential, Balanced, #111 Overall 1st Place :unlv: UNLV In first place, UNLV had some amazing signings with 3 future stars and an above average back-up as well. Notably they are recruiting scheme specific guys as well, as all 4 players are run blockers. David Lowery - 4 star, B overall, C+ potential, Run Blocking, #12 OverallPeter Ahlstrom - 4 star, B overall, C potential, Run Blocking, #23 OverallArrion Lowry - 4 star, B overall, C- potential, Run Blocking, #33 overallCorey Burdi - 3 star, C overall, B- potential, Run Blocking, #97 overall If you've read this far, thanks and make sure to post a comment, hit like, and subscribe ? also let me know if you want to see anything different or additional info as we go through the next position groups! congrats to @cultur3 @Kirby @ChizDippler @Vivid @PoopyRhinoPickle @rcarlson77 on great recruiting! 5
