Bundy Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 While the Jayhawks struggled early in the year, this week's game against Oklahoma may have just been a glimpse into them hitting their stride. QB Ian Morgan has taken full command of the KU offense, and he tore the Sooner secondary apart, going 75% on his passes and carving them up at 10.72 yards per throw, with 3 TDs. Perhaps more impressively, though, was the sudden arrival of the Jayhawk running game. Bene' Humber has been a big name player to the Kansas faithful, but he's had issues getting beyond the first level of the defense, often having to drag defenders as he clips for barely 3 or 4 yards per attempt. This week though, he scampered for 6.57 yards per rush, and he attributed it to a new pregame routine. "I was in high school when Kendrick dropped DAMN. Used to listen to that before every game in high school, and for some reason, I stopped doing that in college. Then DNA came on my earbuds right when we were leaving the locker room this week, and I was back in my high school days and ready to go." The Kansas defense also came to play, shutting down Sugar Ray Cobb, who hit 129 yards but at just 3.79 yards/att. Oklahoma QB David Paul managed just 56 yards through the air on 24 attempts, and it was a dismal day for the future SEC squad. 1
