    Dallas Tribune
Cuban: I don't like to lose, we won't tank

DALLAS, TX Ė With an aging Dirk, the question on everybody's mind is what Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks' plan is for 2017-18.

The Mavs struggled last season and was awarded the ninth overall pick in the draft. With that pick they selected the uber-athletic point guard prospect out of North Carolina State, Dennis Smith Jr. Smith had injury concerns from many scouts entering the draft, but when healthy, there's no denying his talent. He, Lonzo Ball and Markelle Fultz were all mentioned in the same breath at this time last year when discussing future first overall prospects.

    Dallas has high hopes.

"We've got our guy," says head coach Rick Carlisle, "kid's a stud, a true franchise-changing talent."

Can Smith alone help the Mavericks cause enough to turn the tide with an ancient Dirk Nowitzki?

Many analysts think it's another building year for Dallas, but owner Mark Cuban disagrees wholeheartedly.

Cuban states, "We have the talent to compete. Our guys hate losing, I don't like to lose. We won't be tanking or any of that BS around here."

Only time will tell how competitive Big D actually will be. Stay tuned.

I'm amazed at his athleticism. He can get to the rim at will.

I reckon Barnes as a #1 option would be good fun.
