    YANKEES TOP RAYS IN EXTRAS
Judge’s Tenth Inning Blast Propels Yankees to Game One Victory

    By Dustin Ramsey, pinstripes.com

New York, NY -- Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Tampa Bay Rays home opener. Chris Archer started for the home team against Luis Severino for the New York Yankees. The Rays were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-3 after ten innings, New York. Luis Severino was named player of the game.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With one out, Aaron Judge hit a first pitch fastball from Alex Colome for a solo home run. It put New York in front, 4-3.

"It was a solid team effort," said Judge after the game. Judge is poised to have a very big season in the heart of the Yankees lineup.

NEW YORK BATS SILENCED BY ODORIZZI
Odorizzi shuts down Yankees to earn first victory of season

    By Andrew Washington, pinstripes.com

New York, NY -- Jake Odorizzi of the Tampa Bay Rays fashioned a fine 2-0 victory over the New York Yankees. Odorizzi held the Yankees to 3 hits with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts in a strong 105-pitch, 9 inning outing.

"Everything felt right today," he said.

Corey Dickerson and Tim Beckham led the Rays offense, each hitting a solo shot off of Michael Pineda. That was all the offense the Rays needed with Odorizzi’s excellent start.
