Thread: Cuban Missile Crisis

Santana to make debut for Rockies' Double-A affiliate Yard Goats

After much contemplation, according to Santana's camp, the Cuban southpaw decided to forego college to sign with the Colorado Rockies.

Rockies general manager, Jeff Bridich was excited to hear the news that Santana signed his Double-A contract. "We're excited to bring Isaiah into the organization", said Bridich. He continued, "Starting pitching has been a weak point over the past few years, so this was a good opportunity for us".

When questioned about the possibility of seeing Santana in the majors in the near future, Bridich wavered a bit, "he's a great prospect, but we think he needs some time to grow first although, you never can be certain, so anything is possible really".

Santana is scheduled to start next Wednesday when the Hartford Yard Goats take on the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

It was a dominating performance from the Yard Goats on all fronts, including the bullpen that saved Santana's first win.
