Brooklyn Nets NOTHING WAS THE SAME: The Return of Derek Baldwin | MyLeague (2023- )

    The JZA on the banner

This guy will not give me any rest. His 2K14 MyCareer was one of the most fun that Iíve had playing and writing in a long time. It was the longest running and most in depth story Iíd ever done (first post was October 2013). So last summer I was trying to dream up ways of having this go on, do I try and transfer the MyCareer and play it out another 3 or 4 seasons using MyLeague? Do we just have this guy ride off into the sunset with his championships and let a new superstar emerge? Do I just keep playing it on the PS3? I decided it would be cool to have him take on a different role. So Iíve been shaping this up since September 2015, but I didnít want to just stop writing Been Around the World, so I decided to finish the last season that I started. I definitely didnít expect it to take another year (stupid job) to finish the season. But it gave me time to move things into the future 7 years with this chise. I was able to play (more than) a few games and had to actually stop myself from playing more because I didnít want to get too far ahead.

This will be set in the year 2023, 10 years after Derek was drafted into the NBA. I will give a recap of his final season in the league (not the last season that I wrote). Itíll be a minute before we get to the games as I have a few articles to post (be patient djp!). But once I get it going, itís going. Writing will be much of the same as the MyCareer. Game updates, ďcut scenesĒ, and social media. Although the story is somewhat character driven, it still centers around a team, so I plan to include some draft watch updates and of course any major things happening in the league as well. Since there will be quite a few new faces (generated players) dominating the NBA, Iíll try to spotlight some of the Leagueís brightest stars.

Hope everybody enjoys this next chapter in the life of your favorite playerís favorite player.

    Note:
Anything referencing NBA seasonsí before Derekís retirement (2013-2020) will be taken from Been Around the World chise. The only thing that will be here that wasnít in the original MyCareer will be the inclusion of real rookies (Andrew Wiggins, Jahlil Okafor) as you canít import draft classes into MyCareer. Thatís really the only thing thatís going to be a new wrinkle in this story.

So if you guys arenít tired of Derek Baldwin yetÖ.ENJOY!

    this sounds tight.

Yeah I could give a fuck how the league looked when you quit on PS3. Just hoop with Baldwin. Is he still on the Clippers or is this beginning during a summer of free agency?

Looks as though big men have taken over the league. Interesting concept and you know I'm always down for some Derek Baldwin. I'm following.

Thanks. He's not playing this time around. Not at this point. I may get creative later. Who knows?

Starts at the beginning of the summer though.
